Today, High Cotton maintains the largest selection in North Mississippi. At our 4,800-square-foot warehouse, we stock wines displayed by country and varietal, an extensive range of liquors and ingredients for both traditional and inventive cocktails.
In addition, since opening its doors, High Cotton has built one of the region’s most respected and followed barrel programs. Our team travels to vineyards and distilleries to taste and hand-pick barrels of wine, bourbon, tequila and rum. Those selections become custom-label bottles stocked exclusively at High Cotton — selections that customers travel from near and far to get their hands on.
High Cotton Wine & Spirits Warehouse was founded by Aaron Herrington, co-owner and manager, and Erik Richardson, co-owner, in 2017.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law, Herrington had been both an employee and a patron of local wine-and-spirits stores during his time as a student. His travels taught him that Oxford — a small town with big-city sophistication — was lacking a store with the stock and service that regional cities enjoy. So, he set out to create one.
During his time at the University of Mississippi, Richardson worked at the Hoka Cafe and then Syd & Harry’s on the Square. In those years he gained a lasting interest in the beverage industry in Oxford. Opening the store was a way for Richardson to stay involved in the industry while continuing his 20-plus years of practicing medicine.
